Problem

PROBLEM

Two Class Design Brief Examples

Class Design Brief Example 1
I habe been emplyed by ABC3 to create a short animation to promote their upcoming new children's program called "Oscar the Dog". The program is targeted at 6 to 12 year olds. It must be no longer than 30 seconds, but no longer than 2 minutes. It must be age appropriate so it can not have violence or inappropriate content. I have been asked to create the animation using Adobe Flash.

Class Design Brief Example 2
The world has recently been invaded by an army of aliens. They appear friendly at first, but unfortunately when they get close, they wrap you up in sticky tape and take you aboard their ship. It is assumed that they are intending on taking humans back to their planet to be experimented on. Others say they are intending on eating humans At this point we do not exactly know. As a result you have decided to put together an animation to warn people about the dangers of aliens. You have limited experience, but you have decided to use adobe Flash to create the animation. It is already on your computer, and it can be emailed or uploaded to the internet fast. You have decided it will be 2 minutes long and it will have no violence because children will also watch.

MY DESIGN BRIEF

Example 1
I have been asked by the Animal Planet to make a fun program so they can try and lure in some younger viewers to the channel. They asked specifically for it to be an animation using stop motion, which can be found on the computers provided. They asked me to try and integrate some of the jungle animals so they can put it into their rainforest specials on the weekends, which is the prime time for children to watch TV. They said that it would be a 2 minute program so they can place it between the episodes of the rainforest, so it doesn't have to be too long. They specifically stated that no blood or violence will be used in the movie.

Example 2
Disney has asked me to make an animation for the kids to enjoy, so they can watch something interesting between shows. The show has to be an action genre so that it is more appealing to the boys rather than girls, because it will be played during a boy movie marathon. They asked me to use pivot so that i can have a cool animation that the boys will like. Even if it is action genre, there is to be no violence. The video should be around 1 minute long.

My Brief
Nickelodeon has asked me to produce a program that shall be used between episodes of cartoons. They hoped that the program will have a main character and some other characters to help the cartoon be funny. It will have to be safe for children to watch, because if not then there will be some problems in the legal department, so no violence or bad language. The maximum time that the program can be is 2 minutes and it must be over 30 seconds. It has been recommended that I use Stop Motion, because the company informed me that Stop Motion is a very enjoyed program that kids usually like. The Show has to fit into the Comedy genre, so that it is widely preferred to other characters.

Criteria for Success
1. Has to be made using Stop Motion
2. Must be longer than 30 seconds but shorter than 2 minutes
3. Must be child friendly
4. Must include clay figures
5. Must be a Comedy
