Overview
Pivot is a CG animation tool, which asks the author to create different slides of images, using custom or pre-made stick people. The software enables people to use a traditional idea, but create it using a modern tool. Once all the slides have been created, the animation can be played.
Use
I will be testing to see if I can get the depth, skill and entertainment out of Pivot, so I can use it to create my final idea. I will be looking at things like; detail, time, difficulty, and a few more, to see whether Pivot is the ideal software for my requirements.
PMI
Tutorial
The software is easy enough to use when creating a basic animation. The creator has to create a new animation by opening up the application, automatically creating the file. A stick man is automatically placed on the page, but he can be removed or changed to give the result you want. To move the man you use the yellow dot in his stomach, to drag him to the position you want. To change his pose, you have to drag the red dot on his body, and then stop when you find the pose you want. When making the animation, you put the characters in the position you want, and then click next slide. Keep on changing the slides slightly, and then you have an animation. To create another character, you have to go to file, add character, and then use the shapes there to create your masterpiece.
Type
This animation software is a CG animation software, meaning it is a Computer Graphics software. It may be CG, but incorporates a traditional aspect to it using the individual slide component. This enables a bit more freedom in the creation of the animation, and the movement of the characters, but it also takes a lot of time, clicking and dragging, when you can just put the slides in on other softwares.
Not My Animation
Evaluation
To conclude it was found that Pivot did not fill in my requirements for the animation that I needed to create. It was too basic for me, there was no detail in the character, preventing character development, It was hard to create a decent character, and it was not a different animation, it looked like any of the viewers of my animation could create one in a day.
